Executive Director of the Open Architecture Collaborative
Garrett is the Executive Director of the Open Architecture Collaborative (OAC). Before launching the OAC he worked with Code for America coordinating the Peer Network and managing government relations through their flagship Fellowship program. Trained as an architect in post Katrina New Orleans, Garrett strives to understand the holistic implications of design decisions and how our built environment comes together. In 2015 Garrett worked with 30 volunteer chapters around the world to co-create an organization that became the legacy of Architecture for Humanity.
Garrett focuses on creating opportunities for designers to work with their local marginalized communities by employing skills in community engagement, sharing access to knowledge and connections, and understanding the full political context of the built environment. He was selected as a 2016 Next City Vanguard and named in Impact Design Hub’s 40 under 40.
